De dokters hadden ontdekt dat mama leed aan een zelfzame leveraandoening (zwangerschaps cholestase, 1 op de 1000 - 10000 vrouwen), die werd verzoorzaakt door onze aanwezigheid (sorry mam!). Toen bleek dat medicijnen niet goed werkten, werden de dokters zenuwachtig omdat niet bekend is wat het risico voor ons zou kunnen zijn. Er werd besloten een vruchtwaterpunctie te doen om te kijken of onze longen rijp waren. Als dat goed uitpakte, zou er meteen een keizersnee gedaan worden. Het was donderdag 15 juli 2004, en wij wisten niet wat ons boven het hoofd hing...
The doctors had discovered that mummy suffered from a rare liver-disorder (obstetric cholestasis, one in every 1000 - 10000 women), caused by our presence (sorry mum!). When medication didn't have the required effect, the doctors got nervous, since it isn't know what the risk for us could be. It was decided to do an amniocentesis to see if our lungs were ready. If the result was positive, they immediately wanted to do a Caesarian section. It was Thursday, July 15th, 2004, and we didn't know what was coming...
